iPod or iTouch...

I'm loving the iTouch... the user interface makes the Classic so old school.

Mrs. WonderDawg wants a iTouch... probably best to hold out for the next version of the iPhone.

On a side note, I don't understand why the MP3s don't transfer the album art and song info when burning a CD out of iTunes. Must ask Google...

Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues

When I walk by this carving on Second Avenue outside the Trail West store, I'm reminded of Danny O'Keefe's song "Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues."

I don't know why... he has this far away look; maybe perhaps of the sadness just around the corner of the building of the homeless people camped out underneath the bridge.

Here's the song:

GOOD TIME CHARLIE'S GOT THE BLUES
(Danny O'Keefe)

Elvis Presley - 1973
Also recorded by: Charlie McCoy; Jerry Lee Lewis; B. J. Thomas; Willie Nelson; Charlie Rich;
Leon Russell; Joe Simon; Dwight Yoakam; Chris Hillman.

Everybody's gone away
Said they're movin to L.A.
There's not a soul I know around
Everybody's leavin' town

Some caught a freight, some caught a plane
Find the sunshine, leave the rain
They said this town were a waste of time
I guess they're right, it's wasting mine

Some gotta win, some gotta lose
Good time Charlie's got the blues
Good time Charlie's got the blues

You know my heart keeps tellin' me
You're not a kid at thirty-three
Play around you'll lose your wife
You play too hard you'll lose your life

Some gotta win, some gotta lose
Good time Charlie's got the blues
Good time Charlie's got the blues
Good time Charlie's got the blues

Hot footing after Britney Spears and Martha White

i was leaving work this afternoon at 5:30 pm when I spotted this baby blue Martha White Flour / WSM Grand Ole Opry / Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs bus at Broadway and 1st Avenue in downtown Nashville.

After a OMG moment, I unzipped my backpack, grabbed my camera and gave chase after this bus uphill.

With a golf umbrella in one hand, and camera in the other, I ran four long city blocks uphill on First Avenue (barefoot of course) to catch a decent shot of this bus.

I need to get in shape if I ever have a faint desize to be a paparazzi. Britney Spears could have easily been on this bus headed toward East Nashville.

Sync your mobile digital lifestyle: The Ford Focus | Sync Review

[I wrote a monster post with lots of photos over at GearDiary on the introduction of the new Ford / Microsoft Sync technology...]

GearDiary was invited to join traditional media and automobile journalists to experience the launch of the redesigned Ford Focus and Ford Sync™. Hosted in Seattle, Washington by Ford Motor Company and Microsoft, the program included significant drive time with the Focus vehicle, demonstration of the Sync technology and a visit to the Microsoft campus to view the House of the Future. Geekness and coolness personified :!: .

Sync is the newest mobile technology to emerge from the Ford-Microsoft relationship. Debuting in the 2008 Ford Focus automobile, Ford Sync is a fully integrated, flash memory-based system that allows the driver to use their Bluetooth phones hands-free. Additionally, music players such as the Zune or iPod can be controlled via voice commands and buttons mounted on the steering wheel.

Announcing the Corley - Woo Wedding!

Every parent dreams of wanting nothing but the best for their children. The DNA that our Creator forms in the belly of their mother's womb blossoms forth into their destiny. Then the day comes when our sons and daughters grow up and leave the care of their mother and father to their mate.

God has been gracious to Becky and I. Our son Gary and Nora Bennett were married this June of 2007 and now, daughter Megan to Chris Corley September 22, 2007.

Here's a look of the wedding ceremony at Maggiano's Restaurant:

More to come via the Flickr set!

I'll update this post with more photos - there are 700 plus to draw from, so I'll post several different sets!

Back from Seattle Focused and Synced

I just got back from Seattle as a guest of Ford and Microsoft to test drive the new 2008 Ford Focus and Ford Sync. Developed by Microsoft and Ford Motor Company, the Sync allows drivers the convenience to use in the vehicle nearly any Bluetooth mobile phone or music player such as the iPod or Zune using voice commands or the vehicle's steering wheel.

Very impressive technology - could be the killer app in merging one's content into a complete mobile package. More later...

I'll be reviewing the Ford Sync, the redesigned Ford Focus and some thoughts on the Microsoft Home of the Future over at GearDiary next week.

Wedding Day approaches!

Many of you know that I'm crazy about my family - My son Gary was recented married to Nora Bennett in June and now this weekend, daughter Megan is marrying Chris Corley. I'm excited about extending the tribe of inlaws and new circles of blood.

So much has been going on that I hope to catch a breather and return to my regular routine very soon. The fifties have been very challenging aka S _ _ K S, so I appreciate the bright spots.

The geekness in me appreciates this cake:

Mrs. WonderDawg opted for the more traditional cake.

Where Have I Been?

People have asked me in one form or another, "Dude, seriously, where have you been? No tweets, photos, blogs... wassup?"

I shall return - suffice it to say, I've been living the eight steps to life plan.
