Super Size Me & Ronald the Clown

I know I'm two years behind in my movie watching, but I Just finished watching the documentary on McDonalds - Super Size Me.

"Super Size Me is a 2004 documentary film, directed by and starring Morgan Spurlock, an American independent filmmaker. It follows a period in which he eats only McDonald's fast food, three times a day, every day, for thirty days, eating everything on the McDonald's menu at least once - and stops exercising regularly -and it documents the physical and psychological effects this has upon him. In addition, Spurlock explores the corporate influence of the fast food industry and how it encourages poor nutrition for its own profit.

WOW! After watching this documentary, I'll never eat at McDonalds again. I have to rethink my other fast food choices from now on. The drag with eating healthy is that it is SO expensive.

We haven't been really fond of McDonalds from a bad dining experience many, many years ago. Mrs. WonderDawg with baby in car seat, placed a to go order at the drive up speaker. For whatever reason, the line was moving excruciating slow and by the time she reached the window twenty plus minutes later, the old Toyota wagon started to overheat! The manager on duty didn't really care how long she waited which only made her furious. Well, when she got home, the wrong question to ask was, "What took you so long?"

Where Mrs. WonderDawg went ballistic was upon the discovery that the order was completely wrong plus she overpaid for items not received. The quality control was lacking on a chronic basis - sometimes we would miss a small drink on a Happy Meal or got shorted on fries, but it was never worth the hassle of going back to reclaim the fifty cents or so of food we knew better not to eat. Nonetheless, with the car overheating, there was going to be hell to pay for the next morning.

The call went in to the McDonald's local corporate office the next morning and apparently she was given the brush off. All I knew was she was hopping mad when she came home and told the McDonalds office if they didn't clean up their act at the West Nashville location, she was going to protest the McDonalds with a sign that said:

"Ronald is NOT the only clown that works here!"

(not the actual protest, but photo credit and story here)

RUABelle and I have not darkened McDonald's door since we saw the movie. Did you see the extra piece about the french fries in the bell jar that never got moldy after months and months? Creepy nuclear fries.

Industrial grease sticks! Wonder if the rat tails from Krystals are in the same league? I thought cigarette butts never decompose, but know I know better.
