Heading to Sulphur, Lousiana
Sulphur, LA
I'm headed to Sulphur, Lousiana early Tuesday for a week to lend a hand with the TN Baptist Disaster relief efforts - I hope to blog from there and send back some photos, provided there is an internet connection, let alone electricity. I covet your thoughts and prayers, that I will be a worthy ambassador of Christ's love.
I'll probably post several Blog of the Day entries ahead of schedule, so I can focus on the task at hand in Louisiana - I'm told if I don't maintain a focus, then the emotions will overwhelm me and I'll be needing ministry.
The Operation Eden blog is hard enought to read and digest... I'm told that the media accounts doesn't hold a candle to seeing it first hand. We had some guests from New Orleans who where evacuated to Memphis - and they came over to see the LSU game over the weekend. Their advice to me was to focus on the good that is happening on the ground level; acts of kindness and compassion. Most of all, take the time to listen to people who lost everything, especially the elderly.
I will.
