Amazon's Newest Tributary

"Amazon appears close to opening a new online store to sell digital downloads of spoken-word audio, a move the would put the company in competition with industry leader Audible. Although an Amazon spokesperson had no comment on its audio plans, on Friday the company posted a note on its site declaring that 'Amazon is developing a new store to offer downloadable audiobooks to our customers.'
