Texas Lightning

Ever heard of the band "Texas Lightning"? I discovered them via Coverville Episode 210

Last year the furious five released their first longplayer and presented themselves on an extensive tour of Germany. Only half a year later the Texans won the preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with their selfpenned hit "No No Never". This made them the very first countryband in the history of europe's most important song contest to enter the finales. Up to now "No No Never" has sold over 450,000 copies in Germany and therefore has reached triple gold status – while the Album "Meanwhile, back at the Ranch..." has reached gold-status as well with over 100,000 copies sold. It's not a joke, it's country.

Good country pop music - they have a great version of Michael Jackson's "Man In The Mirror" and Prince's "Kiss" and are reminisent of Asleep at the Wheel, Dan Hicks & His Hotlicks and Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen - bands I was listening to probably twenty some years ago!

Always fun to discover new music considering "radio" with a couple of exceptions tries to prevent the process. Based on today's playlist, one would think that Lynard Skynard or Led Zeppelin only made two good songs. I have to make the assumption that being a musician these days in today's music business climate is probably the most entrepreneurial undertakings one can dive into!
