Welcome to Las Vegas!

I left my feet at CES

I left my aching feet at CES - there was some serious walking at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this past week (Jan 8-11).

Over 2500 exhibitors, with the latest technology for the eyeballs to lust over and touch... fortunately I didn't gather every bit of literature to lug around. I saw everything from wireless devices, plugs, parts, plasma TV, sewing machines, personal tazers and handheld devices and mp3 players.

There were over 300,000 elbows in attendance! And I swear, I came close to having a Roots experience... I never seen so many Asians in one place, which made me feel right at home like a big Woo family reunion. Of course us Asians have to stick together to perpetuate the Asian stereotype... where there is smoke, there is fire... where there are electronics, there are Asians.

Las Vegas was jammed pack - 2 hour waits for taxis were common. I stayed in a old Howard Johnson hotel that normally went for $71 weekdays to $170 on weekends at the bargain rate of $399.00. But hey the show was free!

My favorite exhibitor? Had to be Superior Communications with their stellar presentation of iPod accessories by Cirque de Soleil artists.

Ten Commandments

Goals Guy has a List of Ten... goal setting things to implement for the new year.. Ten Things Every Kid Should Know; Ten Reasons to Use a Journal and much more - even if you're a knucklehead!

Ten Commandments for Goal Setting:

1) Thou Shall Be Decisive
Success is a choice. You must decide what you want, why you want it, and how you plan to achieve it. No one else can, will, or should do that for you.

2. Thou Shall Stay Focused
A close relative to being decisive, but your ability to sustain your focus from beginning to end determines the timing and condition of your outcomes.

Well worth the visit to jump start the new year... since today is the 10th of January, here's a way to refire up those goals that dissapated on this past weekend!

PBS chimes in:

Successful people know the importance of having goals. Without goals, and a plan detailing how they will be accomplished, you'll end up drifting through life without realizing many of your dreams. It's important, too, when setting goals, to set ones that are realistic and attainable. Think carefully about what you are trying to accomplish, then brainstorm for creative ways to get the job done. Walt Disney once said, "If you can dream it, you can do it." He had many dreams, and never let obstacles stand in his way. Despite being told once that he lacked creativity, he went on to design Disneyland and Disneyworld, two major attractions that millions of people visit each year.

Baptist 'brewhaha'

CLEWISTON, Fla. (ABP) -- Southern Baptist disaster-relief leaders are denying reports, spread widely across the Internet, that a group of their volunteers in Florida refused to give water to victims of Hurricane Wilma because it came from a beer-brewing company.

I brought back a case from Louisiana... trust me, nobody wanted to drink this stuff... very metallic taste. I thought that the individual cans would make for gag gifts as we affectionally called it "Baptist Beer".
