One of the remarkable things about this song and the album Jagged Little Pill, which had 7 or 8 top singles from it, is Alanis was all of 19 years of age when she wrote this with Glen Ballard, who also wrote 'Man In The Mirror'.
BTW, I really liked this version, and the changing the original line to "It's like meeting the man of my dreams and then meeting his beautiful husband." I wish she had released it that way. All of us (straight) gals have fallen for a gay guy at one time or another.
Hey Kerry, thanks for posting this! Alanis has always been one of my favorites (though I still like her second album stuff better than the current pop stuff). I think her "pissed-off grunge chick" image, when she first became popular, overshadowed how great her voice really is.
If you know someone or at times, even ourselves who think that blogging is a waste of time, we've got to get a hold of the fact that words and photos flung out over the datawaves of the internet are carriers of life, memories, dreams and aspirations for each of us in some way... even for a dog who simply wanted to be adopted.
Keep blogging! You can make a difference!
