My fingers are cold!

... I once worked at a start-up tech company where there was no heat during my winter of discontent. There were many nights of wearing my layered clothing under a down jacket. Although the old computer that was assigned to me was a wood-burning model, it emitted no heat to warm my freezing fingers. And we all know productivity is hampered by sitting on one’s hands. Complaining is futile.

Go see what I'm holding in my hand: over at GearDiary where I've been hanging out.

It Ain't Me Babe

Responding to comments made, I did do a double take when I saw this musician on American Idol:

C'mon not all Asian Americans look alike...

And the only musical instrument I can play is the stereo. Really well.

I did want to play the sax for the longest time back in the seventies when I saw Chris Wood in concert (Traffic) do an amazing solo piece on "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys".

Carrying the Cross is hard work

Wow, my shoulders are killing me...

I'd like to think I'm a pretty upbeat guy, but the process of looking for a daytime job is wearing me thin for tolerance.

Last night at Kroger in Belle Meade, some IGMO in a gray Ford Taurus with Rutherford county tags left his/her car parked in the lane blocking the handicapped spot AND the shopping cart return facing the store. His homey was in the passenger seat on his cell phone while the IGMO was inside the store.

Inside, another guy was dissing his girlfriend, yet he couldn't understand why she didn't want to walk out with him.

He deserved a blanket party.

Someone said as a good Christian, it's hard to carry the cross on your shoulder when you got a chip on your shoulder.

Knock Knock: Having Trouble Expressing How You Feel?

We run into a lot of scenarios in our lives that stir up our emotions – good, bad or indifferent that demand a response. Sometimes an apology needs to be issued, or clarification is needed. As hard as some of us try to manage our time to multitask and accomplish the daily chores that must get done without some schmuck cutting off in traffic, or having a worthless coworker failing to pass along some vital information… words fail us. Hey, we’ve all been there as either a giver or receiver. Communication can be tough at times! For those times when I wish I had signed up for the professional mind reading seminar to understand the opposite sex or when a Curly moment (from the Three Stooges) kicks in:

“I’m trying to think but nothing happens!”… I just need a little help.

Fortunately an innovative set of tools is available to help express our emotions and relieve that inner turmoil !

A Blessing Indeed - Art in Motion

I was heading home tonight after getting a haircut to prep for some meetings and potential job interviews for Wednesday. A whole lot was on my mind as I was driving down West End Avenue when to my right in the shadows of a strip mall I saw a lady painting away with her easel set up on the sidewalk.

Curious, I made the long six around the block loop to check it out. I'm glad I did, as I met Peggy Ann Snow putting the final touches on her painting of Vandyland a "counter-and-booth sweet shop near Vanderbilt University". which I think is out of business - not sure.

Nonetheless, Ms. Snow was absolutely gracious in letting me take photos as she was finishing her painting. She showed me a photo of a painting of a house on Acklen Avenue....

and was anticipating having her paintings on exhibit soon at the Tin Angel Restaurant down the street.

I asked for permission to blog about meeting her and after swapping business cards, she blessed me with a print of the old Jackson Building where Walgreens now sits at the corner of Blakemore and West End.

She definately added some culture to West End Avenue and I enjoyed the conversation - it was precisely what I needed to lift my spirits while enjoying the company of a stranger - or maybe I was being entertained by an angel.
